It all started with a dream... literally!
We are not veterans of the textile industry — but we deeply understand the sleep industry.
Momo was born after Filipa Guimarães, one of the co-founders of one of Europe’s leading mattress brands, decided to leave the corporate world. She wanted to return to a small team, have real impact, get her hands dirty, and feel excited about her work again — something she had been missing for a while.
After years in the sector, she realised that most bedding was either too expensive and conservative, or affordable but poor in quality. She felt that her work in mattresses was complete, and that it was time to complement the sleep experience with the one piece we touch every night: our sheets.
When she discovered bamboo, everything clicked. A softer, cooler, more durable fabric — a product she truly believed in. That’s when Momo began to take shape: a minimalist brand focused on design and high-quality materials, created to make your bedroom more beautiful and your nights genuinely better.
Why the name Momo?
The name Momo comes from a personal connection: one of our founders grew up in Germany and was deeply marked by a special childhood book — Momo, by Michael Ende.
In the story, people begin to “save time” to be more productive, only to lose the very things that make life rich: conversations, silence, small moments, the simple joy of being.
Momo, the character, reminds us of something essential: time is not meant to be saved — it is meant to be lived.
That’s the idea we want to bring to Momo Cotton: more calm, more presence, more space to switch off — starting with the place where everything begins again every day: your bed.
